Wagon

Update
October 12, 2006
The motor is being assembled and all
the weights of the piston and rods were perfect within 1 gram of each
other as an assembly with the rings. All the rod and main clearances are
also within ideal specifications. My father Wayne and Sebastian have
been working on the engine for a week or so now, making sure to have
checked all the piston end ring gaps which were perfect as well. The oil
return has been tapped and will use braided steel line from the turbo to
the block.
Here are some pictures of the motor
in various stages of assembly.
Pictures
above are of the "new" hood which had to be redone again, the day after
it was installed. After checking the oil Sebastian didn't close the hood
completely then took it up on the highway. Could have been worse,
sometimes you have to learn the hard way. The two last thumbnails on the right are of the hood once again re-finished, now featuring hood pins.
Update
March 21, 2006
The Volvo's
engine was recently pulled and many parts have been obtained. The block
is at the machine shop now and will have all 4 cylinders sleeved. One
cylinder can't be fixed with a .20 overbore so to increase surety and
strength we have opted to have the block sleeved. Unfortunately the
block that came out of the parts car was not good, so we had to purchase
another one, this block wasn't good either, though ran ok when pulled so
we figure that we need to move forward, so that is why we opted to
sleeve this second block. The engine compartment
will be painted gloss black and be done this week, we will then start to
fit the NPR intercooler while we wait for Wayne to assemble the
short block. Sebastian also recently purchased tools and began to
organize his shop. The garage received all new walls, all new
electrical, new roof, doors and windows thanks to Sebastian's boss, who
owns the house where Sebastian's car is stored. Once the new engine is
installed and we finish fabricating the 3.5 inch downpipe we will have
the custom 3 inch exhaust bent up and installed at a local shop, the
exhaust will also have a 3 inch dump. We will then move to the rear axle
and onto the roll cage.
Here is a list of
the parts that have been acquired:
-Hurst T 5 short
throw shifter -Street Slicks, Hoosier street legal 8 inch wide slicks on
steel wheels -SS Autochrome header which will be modified -Megasquirt -Megasquirt touch screen
computer -T3/T4 hybrid with 50 trim and .63 Housing -HKS 50 MM wastegate -V Performance bellhousing, clutch, flywheel -Roadrace padded driver seat with harness slots

Update March 23,
2006
Here are pictures of
the engien compartment just after it was sprayed, now the harnesses will
go back in and detail work will continue to include spraying the brake
booster, painting of all engine brackets and hardware. Sebastian will
also begin to fabricate the aluminum airbox which will also double duty
as a mounting surface for the MSD box.
More pictures will be
uploaded as progress is made. Also is a shot of the World Class T 5
which is in the process of being cleaned and detailed.
Introduction
This is Sebastian's first build, and
the car was put on the road December 31st. Previous owners had highly
neglected the car, though the body is solid and complete. Many parts
have been gathered over the last few months in anticipation of the
build. The car will serve as a daily driver but will see duty at the
drag strip, road course, and of course surf trips.
Most all the speed and suspension
parts have been acquired aside from aftermarket connecting rods and the
roll cage. A complete parts car was also purchased to help offset costs
down the road and to obtain a nice running buildable 2.3 turbo motor.
